Malvern, Pa. Vishay Intertechnology Inc. claims the industry's first power panel potentiometer with a cermet element to offer a 6-W power rating at 50°C. With U.S. and EU bushing threads and a fully sealed package, the PE60 targets industrial and aeronautic control panel and heavy-duty control applications in end products such as cockpits, trucks and tractors, HVAC systems, welding machines, tooling machines, field and mine equipment, and water-resistant equipment.
Offering a compact 25-mm diameter, the Vishay Sfernice device is smaller when compared to other panel potentiometers. Its cermet element provides better stability than carbon elements, while its strong dielectric (2500 VRMS), and non-inductive design offer greater robustness, said Vishay. Custom shafts are available in accordance to drawings supplied by customers.
With resistance ranges from 1Ω to 1 MΩ, the potentiometer offers a low 3% typical contact resistance variation and 1% typical end resistance. The device features a standard ±20% tolerance, with tolerances of 5% and 10% available on request. The PE60 provides a maximum operating torque of 4.3 oz.-inch, and an end stop torque of 6 lb.-inch. An operating temperature range of -55°C to +125°C ensures reliable operation even in extreme environments. The device's electrical performance is in accordance with CECC 41 000.
Pricing: $22.0 per unit in small quantities, and $15.0 per unit in large quantities.
