It's an innovation, but broken by someone is just sooner or later.. By the way,this improvement has a limitation. User must connect to internet first before boot up the chip.

Users do not need to connect to Internet to use the chip. Chips are activated by the manufacturer before testing. See the original paper for details http://www.eecs.umich.edu/~imarkov/pubs/conf/date08-epic.pdf
