Smyrna, Ga. Murata Electronics North America has introduced the MPD7D06*S 48-volt input isolated DC/DC converter series. Developed to provide optimal power selection flexibility, the DC/DC converter series allows engineers to easily scale from low to high power and vice-versa in the design stage. This saves time and money during the board layout and provides the capability to add new features or make changes without altering the layout, said Murata. Targeted applications include router, computer server, optical backbone, FTTx, Public Branch Exchange (PBX)and fixed wireless access applications.
The increased scalability is enabled by the MPD7D06*S's parallel operation feature and footprint compatibility with the 10-W MPD6D10*S series and the 15-W MPD6D11*S series DC/DC converters. Scaling up in power for up to five devices, this 35-watt DC/DC converter can current share up to 175 watts. Isolation rating is 1.5 kVdc for 1 minute. The operating temperature range is -40°C to 85°C. The device is housed in a 40.05 x 31.15 x 8.0 mm maximum surface-mount package.
The MPD7D06*S also offers increased reliability because no optical couplers are needed and improved EMI noise filtering with the use of integrated input and output capacitors. Start-up times are easily synchronized with other modules by connecting the devices' parallel operation pins. The converter also utilizes a planar transformer via the multi-layer printed-circuit-board to permit thin and stable coil quality.
The DC/DC converters feature built-in protection circuits, remote on/off switching and alarm signal outputs. The series is UL recognized to UL60950 and complies with IEC60950 and CE marking. The series is RoHS 6/6 compliant.
Pricing: $22.00 in volume quantities.
Availability: The MPD7D06*S series is in production and samples are available now. Volume quantities are available with 8 to 12-week lead times.
