Malvern, Pa. Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. has released a compact double-diode ESD protection array designed to protect dual high-speed USB ports or up to two other high-frequency signal lines against transient voltage signals.
The VBUS052BD-HTF is packaged in leadless LLP75, with a 1.6 x 1.6-mm footprint and an ultra-low profile of 0.6 mm. This tiny package, which uses an environmentally friendly "green" molding compound, minimizes the board space required for active ESD protection in a wide range of portable electronics. Typical applications include portable and handheld computing, communications, industrial, and medical systems.
The ESD protection device features a low capacitance of 1.5 pF typical per diode and a low maximum leakage current of <0.1 uA at the working voltage of 5 V. The array offers a breakthrough voltage of 7.9 V (at 1 mA) typical, and a maximum clamping voltage of 16 V at 3 A.
The bus port-protection array provides transient protection for one data line as per IEC 61000 4 2 (ESD) at ±15 kV (contact and air discharge) and offers a high surge current of >3 A in accordance with IEC 61000 4 5. It is also compliant with RoHS 2002/95/EC and WEEE 2002/96/EC.
Pricing: $0.12 each in quantities of 100,000 for U.S. delivery.
Availability: Samples and production quantities are available now, with lead times of 10 weeks for large orders.
