Stockton, Calif. West Coast Magnetic has introduced the 307 series of power inductors that can handle very high DC currents and high AC ripple currents from 60 Hz to 500 kHz. The power inductors feature new design elements including a new powdered core material that is said to provide industry-leading price performance, a shaped foil technology to achieve very low direct current of resistance (DCR) and low AC winding losses, and elimination of the bobbin to maximize window utilization and reduce cost.
For example, the WCM307-1 is a 190-uH, 14-milliohm inductor that can handle 34 amps rms of current and over 100 amps of current without saturation, while the WCM307-15 is a 9-uH, 0.5-milliohm inductor that can handle 188 amps rms of current and over 500 amps without saturation.
The 307 series is packaged in a 2.2 (W) x 2.4 (H) x 1.82-inch (L) footprint. The inductor series offers an operating temperature range up to 200°C for high reliability and harsh environments.
