ROHM Electronics white LED driver IC (BD8113EFV-E2) provides constant current for white LED backlights in medium- to large-format TFT-LCD automotive displays. The dual-channel driver produces up to 150 mA constant current per channel with current-mode buck/boost DC/DC control for constant display brightness over automotive temperature ranges (-40 to 105C), even with fluctuating battery input voltages. Maximum input voltage is 36V (nominal supply voltage range is 5 to 30V). Built-in protection features include undervoltage lockout, overvoltage protection, thermal shutdown, and overcurrent and short circuit protection.
"LEDs perform much better under cold temperatures than CCFLs, making them ideal for automotive systems such as instrument clusters, infotainment displays, and multifunction display systems that incorporate multiple functions like radio, navigation, and HVAC," says Youichi Kajiwara, ROHM automotive driver team manager.
Price for the driver, sampling now, is $5.00 each in sample quantities. For more information visit: http://www.rohmelectronics.com/Automotive_Solutions.html.
