A series of quartz crystals from Nihon Dempa Koygo Ltd. are touted as being designed for high resistance to solder cracking when used with lead-free solder.
NDK (Belvidere, Ill.) said its NX3225GB series of quartz crystals can withstand 2,500 cycles from -30 degrees C to 120 degrees C without cracking. They are targeted at CPU clocks in engine controls.
The operating temperature of the NX3225GB series is -40 degrees C to 150 degrees C, NDK said.
The crystals operate in a fundamental frequency range of 9.84375~50 MHz with a frequency tolerance at 25 degrees C of +/-50 ppm. Standard load capacitance is 8 pF, but NDK said other values are available.
The crystals conform to AEC-Q200 and are RoHS compliant.
Cost for 10,000 pieces of the NX3225GB is about 30 cents each. Delivery is between 8 to 12 weeks. The crystals are packaged in tape and reel, NDK said.
