San Jose, Calif.Avago Technologies announced two new front end modules (FEMs) that incorporate a power amplifier (PA), duplexer, band-pass filter and coupler to improve efficiency and extend talk time in mobile handsets.
Avago's AFEM-775x series includes Avago's CoolPAM and Film Bulk Acoustic Resonator (FBAR) technologies to improve performance in CDMA cell band and dual-band handsets, wireless PDAs and wireless data cards. CoolPAM-V technology does not require a DC-DC converter, which helps save cost and space in handset designs. The power amplifier is manufactured based on advanced hetero-junction bipolar transistor (InGaP HBT) technology, which offers reliability and ruggedness.
The AFEM-775x series fully matched CDMA FEMs are designed to minimize power consumption with three power modes: high power, mid-power and bypass modes.
Operating frequencies are as follows: AFEM-7750Tx: 824 to 894 MHz and Rx: 869 to 894 MHz; the AFEM-7758TxZ: 1850 to 1910 MHz and Rx: 1930 to 1990 MHz. The products provide 25 dBM linear output power @ 3.4V.
They devices are housed in a 4 by 7 by 1.1mm SMT package.
Pricing: The AFEM-7750 and AFEM-7758 are priced from $2.20 and $2.80, respectively in 10,000 unit volumes.
Datasheets: AFEM-7750 and AFEM-7758.
