Vishay Intertechnology, Inc., has released new 300 W, 600 W, and 800 W thick film power resistors featuring a small size and a broad range of resistance values.
The new Vishay Sfernice LPS300, LPS600 and LPS800 thick film resistors are non-inductive (< 0.1 uH) and provide a wide resistance range of 0.3 Ω to 900 kΩ. Featuring compact footprints of 57 mm by 60 mm and low weight of 83 grams, the devices save valuable space on the circuit board, allowing designers to reduce the size of their end products.
With their high power capabilities and high dielectric strength of 12 kVRMS, the devices released today are intended for power supply, inverter, converter, snubber, and discharge resistor applications in windmills, trains, scanner and X-ray tables, and large UPS drives.
Thermal resistance for the LPSxxx resistors at rated power and +85 degrees C is 0.112 degrees C/W junction-to-case. The devices feature a standard temperature coefficient of ±150 ppm/ degrees C for values above 10 Ω and tolerances from ±1 percent to ±10 percent. The RoHS-compliant resistors offer high-temperature performance from -55 to +120 degrees C (LPS300), +155 degrees C (LPS600), and +175 degrees C (LPS800).
Samples and production quantities of the LPS300, LPS600 and LPS800 high-power thick film resistors are available now, with lead times of eight to 10 weeks for larger orders.
