PARIS For the latest version of its M-Design platform, Mephisto Design Automation NV (Leuven, Belgium) said it has improved functional and usability. Interoperability will be the company's next point of focus.
Mephisto Design Automation (MDA) has introduced version 3.2 of its M-Design platform for the design and analysis of analog, mixed-signal and custom digital circuits across multiple abstraction levels. In a discussion with EDA DesignLine, Kenneth Francken, CEO Mephisto Design Automation NV, detailed the productivity gains for front-end design.
Firstly, he stated, M-Design immediately saves time with simulation/verification/documentation through the combination of the M-Craft evaluation setup manager and the M-Doc Report Center, which automatically generates Open Document Format compliant documentation based on templates.
Secondly, Francken noted that M-Design saves time in exploration and verification by taking advantage of our Advanced Flow Control Technology.
Thirdly, the platform is claimed to improve circuit performance and designer productivity using the company's M-Crunch optimization module, including patent-pending multi-level support.
Other improvements for the 3.2 release are easier setup of device-level process corners, an integrated Python-based batch interface and improved results browsing capabilities, noted the Belgian company.
MDA noted that its M-Design 3.2 version has been released ahead of schedule. It was indeed scheduled in March following the company's three-monthly release cycle, Francken noted. "This time, our team managed to get everything qualified and tested well before the release month."
At this point of time, Francken said he could not give too much detail yet about the next release. "But it is clear that it will focus on interoperability with other tools and frameworks, based on the OpenAccess database and on user interface and control improvements."
He continued: "With M-Design, we have a very solid and advanced platform including embedded scripting. Most customer requirements are related to interoperability and interface improvements."
Earlier this month, MDA joined Silicon Integration Initiative and its OpenAccess Coalition (OAC). By contributing to OpenAccess, Francken said MDA is able to provide an efficient technical solution to the current and future interoperability requirements of its customers.
