Claiming an industry first, programmable logic vendor Altera Corp. and noise-reduction technology specialist Apical Ltd. Wednesday (March 24) introduced a high-definition wide dynamic range (WDR) CMOS image-sensor-processing solution for video-surveillance cameras.
According to the companies, the solution ensures superb video-image quality regardless of varying lighting conditions, a major stumbling block for previous generations of surveillance cameras. Featuring Altera's Cyclone III and Cyclone IV FPGAs, and Apical's intellectual property, the solution supports Aptina's new MT9M033 high-definition WDR CMOS image sensor, the companies said. More information about the solution is available on Altera's website.
Altera (San Jose, Calif.) plans to demonstrate the solution at the International Security Conference West Expo, March 24-26 in Las Vegas.
