Contact-less current sensing is also very important in applications where you require galvanic isolation. If you are interested in a system which is about 2X more accurate and over 5X faster you should check the AMR current sensor E524.50 from Elmos. It is also far less expensive than the listed price here (although I assume this is a typo).

Contact less current sensing is very usefull in applications where a large current flowing through a conductor to be measured for the simple reason that the sensor will not add up a power loss and heat. This tri axis field sensing technology using Hall effect gives a 90 khz bandwidth so can be used to monitor high current switching applications in this frequency band.
