Two 1.5 W output DC/DC µModule converters target high-vibration applications in a compact, thermally enhanced 9 mm x 11.25 mm x 4.92 mm ball grid array package. Featuring 725 VDC galvanic isolation, the compact, reliable LTM8047 and LTM8048 converters from Linear Technology Corp. break ground loops in avionic, industrial, and instrumentation applications. The small, enclosed BPA package houses the transformer, control circuitry, and power switches for increased interconnect reliability.
Both devices operate from an input voltage of 3.1 V to 32 V, delivering a regulated output voltage on the secondary side, adjustable from 2.5 V to 12 V (LTM8047) and 1.2 V to 12 V (LTM8048). The LTM8048 includes a low-noise linear post regulator that reduces the output ripple noise to 20µ Vrms at 300 mA. The LTM8048’s isolated post regulator delivers an output voltage accuracy of 2.5%. The low noise performance of the LDO delivers a clean supply rail, improving the performance of high-accuracy mixed-signal converters. The LTM8047 & LTM8048 converters offer 80% and 75% efficiency (24VIN to 5VOUT) for, respectively. Additional features available on both products include overcurrent protection and adjustable soft start.
The LTM8047 and LTM8048 are available for immediate delivery from stock in three operating junction temperature grades:
E and I grade: -40°C to +125°C
MP grade: -55°C to +125°C.
