The masuremenrt is made by frquency domain analysis. As the energy consumed is reactive the computation needs both amplitude and frequncy,phase related datas from the unit

The meter ref design itself has got quite matured. It seems that this ref design can be used by any mfg to fast produce the supplies required with minor localization. The only protocol need to be implemented on this ref design is wifi capability.

This sounds like a good kit. I bet it will be taken off the shelf in a breeze now that Smart Grid systems are soon to awake. The business model will be very important in determining the success or failure of this new technology as it is my impression that many of our novelties are a little forced to be received by consumption. The reference kit sounds good though. It doesn't say how much will it cost right?
