Two options for the Rohde & Schwarz CMW500 wideband radio communications tester work in conjunction with the company's UPV audio analyzer to address the advent of VoLTE (voice over LTE) technology on mobile user equipment. The CMW500 emulates an LTE network, while the UPV assesses the voice transmission and voice quality of the LTE user equipment in accordance with an objective set of test criteria.
The analyzer uses a POLQA (perceptual objective listening quality analysis) measurement algorithm to perform this task. The solution also tests whether the LTE user equipment can signal a voice call and how it performs under realistic network conditions.
The CMW-KAF10 option is aimed at equipment developers who deal with the relevant R&D scenarios for VoLTE; the CMW-KAC10 option carries out conformance tests. Rohde & Schwarz also offers test cases for text-messaging (SMS) services over LTE.
