"Two on-board Ethernet PHYs are provided that support all the top industrial networking protocols, including EtherCAT, PROFINET and EtherNet/IP."

Has anybody tried to run any Industrial Ethernet protocol such as EtherCAT or PROFINET on the Cyclone V SoC development kit using the two on-board 10/100 Mbps Ethernet ports? How does it perform?

We talk with Patterson and one of his colleagues behind the effort about the opportunities they see, what new kinds of designs they hope to enable and what it means for today’s commercial processor giants such as Intel, ARM and Imagination Technologies.
