You are right, but those tier one Manufacturers are already having very good market share, infect they do not require any further certifications from the consumer awareness point of view, as they are already paying roughly double the cost for the brand name. I see more requirement of this sort of certification for the second level manufacturers, to overall improve the quality of display in low cost products.
@Kinnar: So maybe there is potential for first tier OEMs to differentiate and get some added margin by using this logo--if customers can be taught to look for and appreciate it. Thus those top tier OEMs and retailers etc mya have to invest in some education programs.
Yes you are perfectly pitched the ball, since the LCD Manufacturing is Proprietary Business and the Controlling Electronics is generally from some other manufacturer the perfect match at the time of calibration required many corrections, but being digital circuits most of the time the OEMs lack the ability of incorporating such corrections. Because of this the second level product manufactures output remains very inferior in terms of Display Performance.
Wow, Rick, that's amazing. As you know, although many consumers watch video on their tablets, most of those portable devices do NOT come with a display processor. I wonder about this implication to chip vendors...
