Applied did not say explicitly

But it is notable that Splinter is 62

The life of a CEO, living in a airplane seat, is tough and people in their 60s sometimes say it is time to change the work/life balance.

Splinter is 62. He probably needs a break!

@goafrit, quite agree. Sometimes its not the leadership but the nature of business.

Nothing to know yet until after 4-6 quarters. This business most times is not an ailment that CEOs can solve. Sure, great ones help but sometimes it is not the leader, but the business.

Sound like the board of director's made a wise decision.  Good luck to you Mike Splinter.  We will be watching Applied Materials over the next few months.

What prompted Applied to have a new CEO?
