Yes, these fast image processors will not only be able to warn you about traffic lights, but also read street signs and recognize faces from vast databases.

Regarding memristors, they are important because memristors realize a memory function in the conductance domain--just like the memory synapses of the brain. Read the details in these stories:

Interesting. So with such a fast image processor, we can have an additional warning inside our vehicles alerting the red signal in front of us. I have "missed" the red signal couple of times and luckily havent caused an accident till now. This would be a great help. 

Anyone knows, why memristor is used/important here?
