Very good list and will help many new development projects. Are all these modules certified to be used in any product? Or does it needs new certification before it can be used in new product?

Yes many of my undergrads will be happy to start making use of these nice piece of hardware's, this will start shrinking the world in terms of controlling electronics. This is making me wondering where these developments will take the electronics industry!!!

It is very useful list to grasp "IoT wannabe" candidates. Thank you.

WiFi / 802.15.4 ratio is about 50 / 50. I wonder if WiFi and 802.15.4 are co-exist for their own domains, or one will beat another in near future.

Cleary WiFi is more popular (virtually all cell-phones, tablets and PCs have it) and much faster, but WiFi is power hungly and not good long-distance /NLOS connectivity.

802.15.4 is cheaper and power efficient, generally better connectivity, but not as popular as WiFi.

It is interesting to see if "ultra low power" WiFi chip (such as TI CC3000) can sucessfully invade to 802.15.4 domain.

@DrFPGA: Any volunterrs and/or bloggers out there willing to give it a try?

I bet Duane Benson would be interested for his Robot Avatar project if the various vendors wanted to send him units to experiment with.

Nice list... I liked the ThingWorx & Waspmore combination particularly for coverage in both long and short range deployments.

Overall, the list definitely helps apps developers with what they need!
