It's funny how you can happily float along through life not even knowing that you want something... until you see it and you think "Wow!" Well, this just happened to me when I ran across the DIwire from Pensa Labs.
It's amazing how quickly things are changing. Not so long ago, 3D printers were huge and cost tens of thousands of dollars. Now you can afford to have one on your desktop. (See: Hurray! My 3D Printer Has Arrived!.)
The same "desktop trend" seems to be happening with regard to desktop milling machines. Until today, however, I'd never even conceived the idea of a desktop wire bending machine.
What might you create with this little rascal? Well, there's a video on the Pensa Labs website that will give you all sorts of ideas -- it's certainly got my head buzzing with possibilities. I can also see myself combining bent wires with plastic parts created using my 3D printer.
How much will the DIwire cost? When will it become available? I don't know. The Pensa Labs website doesnít offer much information on nitty-gritty details like these, although it does claim that the DIwire has a certain "Cool Factor" and will be the most stylish machine in your shop, and who among us can argue with facts like that?
Well, I for one cannot wait to hear more. In the meantime, what would you create if you had one of these little beauties at your disposal?
