Some of my fondest memories from childhood are of me staring in awe upward into the infinite black as the constellations came alive and planets zoomed around me. My childhood brain was absolutely overcome by the awesome (and I don't use "awesome" lightly) experience of the planetarium dome in St. Louis.
When I stumbled into this gallery of behind-the-scenes pictures of the Fiske Planetarium located at the University of Colorado in Boulder, I was mesmerized. What follows is the complete set, with captions supplied by graduate student Dylan Dickey.
This is the outside of our building. It was constructed in 1975 with a grant from Wallace Fiske. We're on campus at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
