A few months ago, Altera unveiled its plans for its next generations of 20nm and 14nm FPGAs and SoCs in 2014. The company announced its Arria 10 product, which will be implemented on TSMCs 20nm process, and also sketched out some of the capabilities for a Stratix 10 generation using Intel's 14-nm FinFET process technology. (See: Altera announces Generation 10 FPGAs and SoCs.)
More recently, Altera announced that its Stratix 10 SoCs are to feature a 64-bit quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 processor subsystem. (See: Altera's Secret Processor Unveiled: a Quad-Core ARM Cortex-A53.)
Well, I just heard that Altera has made the Quartus II Software Arria 10 Edition v13.1 available for immediate download. Altera describes this new release as "The industryís first development tool for 20 nm FPGAs and SoCs."
Quartus II Software Arria 10 Edition is available as a subscription edition and includes a free 30-day trial. The annual software subscription is $2,995 for a node-locked PC license. Click here to see the full press release.
