No doubt Qualcomm is a model for other companies in the era of mobile devices. The key to their success appears to be their 20% investment of sales in R&D. Acquisitions are nice and they've certainly done well in that department, but being able to invest in one's own research and development, especially in a fast-moving environment, is essential.
