The Mooshimeter multimeter from Mooshim Engineering is another crowdfunded tool that will be available for pre-ordering in early January. According to the website, Mooshimeter is "a rugged wireless multimeter and data logger that uses your smartphone as a display."
The Mooshimer multimeter's crowd funding campaign launches on Dragon Innovation in early January.
Mooshimeter is a pocket-sized multimeter that connects wirelessly to a smartphone, so you can do real-time remote monitoring. It is supposed to measure up to 600 V and 10 A with 0.5% accuracy.
Mooshim Engineering provided EE Times with some use cases:
- With burst captures of 8kHz and simultaneous voltage and current sampling, you can use it as an oscilloscope to diagnose AC power problems.
- With the on-board SD card and a battery life of over a year, you can gain insight in to phenomena too slow to monitor with a traditional multimeter. For instance, diagnose battery health by logging the charging curve over hours or use the onboard temperature sensor to monitor the health of a sensitive item in transit over several days.
- Monitoring vehicle electrical system from passenger seat (see video below)
A spokesperson told us that, even though the site isn't robust yet, we should come back around Jan. 6 for the crowdfunding campaign launch.
