Indeed Prabhakar - and that was a bit of a surprise to me, but Yocto seems to be making quite a difference for the board makers. Running the same applications across different embedded boards with different controllers is quite compelling.

The virtualization for microcontrollers is coming with the new MIPS Warrior M class controller IP and ARM's Cortex-R which will start showing up as new devices later this year - Virtualization pushes into microcontrollers and this ties up with the LInux theme when they support both an RTOS and Linux on the same chip

Good to read that Linux is still holding its fort despite advances from Android as the Embedded OS.

I am not clear about the virtualization of the micro-controllers though!

Yep, smaller, cheaper and lower power consumption with higher performance.  That will be the needs of IofT.  The rest of the industry will benefit as well.
