If demand for electric energy will be this high, Germany should look back on nuclear energy options. It may look more sustainable.

Nuclear energy generation is a capital intensive activity and it also requires a lot of safety related measures to be taken. Nuclear energy stations cannot be located in the heart of cities or on desnsely populated areas because of the possible radiation hazard.

 

I think Germany has taken a very wise decision to do away with Nuclear energy in light of the infamous Fukushima incident in Japan.

 

Alternate energy sources like wind energy, solar energy and bio-fuel are the best energy generation options  in my opinion.
