Sonar would be an obvious means to determine depth of the water ahead regardless of the water opacity. Once the front end touches water, an underwater sonor depth finder could detect and display the water depth ahead.

When I drive I want to control my radio, aircon, etc. without looking. I do not like touchscreens. What is the added value of such an interface? I hope ergonomics are more important than eye candy.

I do like the HUD. My almost ten year old BMW has a HUD that shows speed, navigation and warning messages. Until I had a HUD I never knew what I was missing. It helps to focus on the road.

So adding HUD and touchscreens seems a bit opposite.
