It seems like this is more accurately described (at least so far) as a temporary cessation in the decline rather than a reversal of it. The people that were still hanging on to XP computers are a relatively large group, but they are not a growing one. The next such event will be when Win7 falls out of support, and I suspect that that group will be larger but less likely to blindly salute the next Microsoft flag. That group has been growing as people reject Win8, but I think that people are examining the alternatives more than they might have in the past.
