The Amalia tool offers a 10 to 50 times speedup of performance verification testing for analog/RF designs as well as optimization of physical area constraints and 3- and 6-sigma Monte Carlo statistical verification. Emera provides nominal, PVT corner, and 3- and 6-sigma optimization analysis in minutes, the company claims.
"We will start with a mixed license and service business model to help demonstrate that our tools do provide the benefits we claim," says Sykes. As a result Thalia is also offering analog circuit design and porting of designs to alternative foundries. The company has a staff of eight people split between Cwmbran and Bangalore.
In addition to funding from Mercia Fund Management and Finance Wales, the company has secured grant support from the UK government's Technology Strategy Board (TSB) and the Welsh government.
