Now the tablet market already reached a stage where everyone would think about developing a niche or a more of a open box design that can be sold or used in different designs.

tablets are entering commodity phase...so you either work on cost or try to develop a niche

David Patterson, known for his pioneering research that led to RAID, clusters and more, is part of a team at UC Berkeley that recently made its RISC-V processor architecture an open source hardware offering.
