@Junko, the Barcelona Fair anounced two days ago that the first IoT World Congress will be held here in September.

The event, named the IoT Solutions World Congress, will be organized in partnership with the Industrial Internet Consortium, the Industrial IoT organization founded by AT&T, Cisco, General Electric, IBM, and Intel.

I believe the explosion of IoT made necessary to organize a different event from the MWC.

You are absolutely right. Some M2M applications can definitely profit from using the Internet. What I meant, though, was more in the tongue and cheek sense, traditional M2M -- regarded less glamorous by mass media -- is suddenly getting a lot of attention, once it's called IoT.

I would not call it "disguised as IoT," but rather "implemented as IoT." By defintion, for M2M, the machines have to communicate. In many cases, not always, using the Internet makes good sense. Especially when these machines are not in close proximity.

I actually find it most interesting that MWC is moving into the IoT field.
