SAN JOSE, Calif. -- This was the second year for Silicon Valley’s own Comic Con, an event that mingles fantasy and science fiction with the world of science and engineering. Surrounded by vendors hawking comic books, memorabilia and light sabers were booths for SETI, NASA, and a rocket club from San Jose State. Even the NASA booth had attendants dressed as Star Trek characters.
The event was very family friendly with girls and boys dressed in elaborate costumes, indicting an involved parent. There were also families dressed in set costumes. My costume was as a roving reporter.
Based on the crowds in San Jose over the weekend, I expect there will be a third event next year – so start on your droid builds or Iron Man costume now.
