But moving faster is not a request for Android user.

They once bought a phone who pleased them, and they still are able to install recent applications.
Because as long as Google statistics show that one would miss too much people by ignoring version N, developper usualy build for target at least N. It may not be feasible in case you want something very specific to versions at least N+k (k≠0), but this is exception.

Again, the real issue with Android phones updates is security updates policy, where you may be lucky or you may not.

@sw guy: Cool Google provides tools to target specific Android versions, but I think Cook makes a good point that 86% of iPhone users are on iOS 10 and only 7% of Android users are on its latest version. The Apple ecvosystem is arguably moving forward faster.

May someone please tell Mr Cook that fragmentation is not an issue for Android users ?

The reason why Google provides version statistics regarding its store is to allow developpers to create application targeting really live subset of versions, which is not that difficult, thanks to support libraries provided by ... Google.

The real pain of phones updates with Android regards security ones.

AR craze wave #2 for folks that failed to get the message the first time.AR is not convenient enough with a phone display, Google's efforts are for future form factors, there is no AR market for phone.

With the speaker Apple entirely misses the point. The idea is to figure out what can be an affordable device that can go in every room to put Siri everywhere. A TV box doesn't quite fit in every room , an affordable speaker can go just about anywhere but who's gonna buy 5-10 speakers at 350$ each? This generates some revenue but doesn't really help Apple as it will go in rooms that are already Siri enabled.
