In my opinion this company has nothing to offer. It was established based on a good idea by Prof. Andy Kent on making in-plane (not really scalable) OST technology. The patent, which was filed by Andy Kent was killed because there was a prior art patent from SPINTEC. Then, to keep the face, the company promoted another design (now perpendicular) as an OST design, however there is so much prior art for this design, going back to years before STT company was established. I am sorry to say my opinion, but I do not see success for STT company. They came to the game too late, have no fundamental or good IP and I think all the "customer sampling talk" is a way to keep the investors, Allied Minds off their back. And Allied Minds is in trouble itself these days, loosing stock from 450 to 140.

Hoberman's company develops Orthogonal Spin Transfer (OST) memory, which is different from the conventional Spin-Torque-Transfer (STT) developed by Everspin, Avalanche, and the foundries. OST is claimed to be better than mainstream STT.

It's quite hard to scale because it needs lower resistance for higher performance (speed, endurance, etc.) and the shrinking transistors and wires make it more difficult. It is also the hardest memory to do MLC because its signal margin is around 2 or less.

The key question is how does it scale. If it scales better than competing solutions it can be more than niche - scaling on the horizontal, vertical and bits per cell, a winner will likely excel in all 3.
