Smart Solutions' new UltraDIMM (click here for a larger version).
The UltraDIMM from Smart Solutions was one of the stars of the show. It uses controllers recently unveiled by the startup Diablo Technology to pack up to 400Gbytes of flash in a dual inline memory socket.
So far it's only for block access. Diablo says it is developing a driver that will support random access, but it is not saying when that will be ready.
IBM showed a server packing 16 of the 400Gbyte cards (below). An IBM flash executive told us this week that the company will ship such products and make its own controllers next year.
