I have a new nexus7 AND an Ipad. I'm still very frustrated that my BT keyboard doesn't work with the nexus 7.

That's one reason I like Android.  I've set my wife up with a cute little Sony digicam with 720p video & SD storage, and an Android tablet with a uSD slot and full size USB port.

She can take the uSD card from the camera, remove the micro->full size adapter, stick it into the tablet, and instantly look at her picts & videos on a much bigger screen.

The USB works great with a compact wired keyboard (which is easier for her than a BT one).

Apple & Amazon polish

I'm not a Kindle owner, but I know quite a few -- and I'm pretty sure it's more polished in some ways than the iPad: it'd better have much better integration with Amazon.com (especially Amazon Prime).

I found a number of people using iPads for taking photos while I was on vacation in Italy this summer. I used mine a few times, but mostly I used my Lumix camera with 12x optical zoom. Far superior pcitures.

I've done it. I can shoot picture/video and then edit right there on that device AND enter it into the online system of choice (youtube/blog). That would be a huge pain on the phone.

I'd like it if it were easier to get video from a phone or camera onto the ipad and then edit it. I would use a nicer camera then.

yeah, those retina displays are very tempting, but ultimately not enough of a draw for me.

though the two may match up on paper, anyone who has used the two for any extended amount of time will tell you they are very different beasts.  The apple experience is much more polished, and the app store is a behemoth.

even their $20 upgrade was considered very cheap. Going free was a good move on their part.

Admittedly tablets will need this before smartphones and neither one is choking on 32-bit.

It will be interersting to see how/whether Apple gets advantage from being early to this milestone

Good grief, Intel and AMD have been 64bit for ten years now. The sad fact, in the comsumer market, 90% of the apps don't need it and vendors being forced to supply 32 and 64bit versions is unnecessary overhead. The only comsumer app that may benefit from 64bit are video and how well does that work without +4gb of ram?
