In an exclusive survey conducted by EE Times and co-sponsored by Deutsche Bank over 1,000 EDA users handed a report card at the 2005 Design Automation Conference (DAC) with a grade that can be described as "incomplete". The survey covered 339 ASIC/IC designers, 116 FPGA designers, and 698 PCB designers. Insights from Design Automation editorial director Richard Goering on the results of the survey are followed by descriptions of five typical global design teams and the challenges they are facing. Infocharts (By the Numbers) and the survey itself are also here.
