Mentor Graphics , Model Technology MergeMentor Graphics (Wilsonville, OR) has acquired Model Technology Inc. (Beaverton, OR) in a move making the latter a fully-independent subsidiary of the former. Mentor Graphics' QuickVHDL simulation tool combines direct-compiled code technology from Model Technology with design entry, synthesis, and co-simulation technology from Mentor Graphics . Model Technology will continue to operate uninterrupted, and their simulation products will continue to be OEM'd to Mentor Graphics . They will also fully support all existing OEM and distributorship agreements. Model Technology 's headquarters will remain in Beaverton. Terms of the agreement were not announced. EDA, PLD conferences To meet the demands of followers of the growing Windows-based technology and applications for EDA, a technical conference and exhibit will be held this spring. The conference, called WinEDA '95, is to be held April 25-27 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in conjunction with PLDCon '95. Now in its fifth year, PLDCon is for engineers who use programmable logic (FPGAs, CPLDs, and PLDs) in their designs. WinEDA '95 topics will include interoperability, synthesis use, PCB design, ASIC development, and EDA tool evaluation. PLDCon '95 will focus on the latest programmable logic advancements. Included will be high-level system design, state machines, designing for speed, and telecommunications. The conferences' sponsors include Integrated System Design , EE Times, Data I/O (Redmond, WA), Intergraph Electronics, and Microsoft Corp. (Redmond, WA). The cost for the three days of the double conference is $275. For more information, contact Linda Uslaner at (516) 562-5709.
