Workstations and Servers Axil Computer, a subsidiary of Hyundai Electronics Industries, announced its S/420 line of 32-bit multiprocessing workstations and servers that support Sun OS. In addition, Axil announced a line of Solaris-based Axil Ultima systems for those groups that immediately require 64-bit UltraSPARC performance. Axil also offers the Ultima line, including the Ultima 1/E+ workstation and server, which implements the UltraSPARC architecture. The Axil S/420 entry-level system, beginning at $12,885, includes 64 Mbytes of RAM, 2.1 Gbytes of hard disk, a 21-in. monitor, and TGX. Axil Computer Inc. , Santa Clara, CA. Reconfigurable OS Giga Operations announced Release 3.0, MS-DOS, and Release 3.1, Windows NT, of its Reconfigurable Computing Development Software for Xilinx software development and for the Spectrum Reconfigurable Computing platform. The tools include the XLINK-OS operating system, XL Compiler, XL and Xscript languages, GDIAG diagnostic tools, and monitor libraries. Release 3.0 is $1,750, and Release 3.1 is $2,500. Giga Operations Corp., Berkeley, CA. Contact (510) 848-5446 or www.reconfig.com .

USB Core Lucent Technologies' Microelectronics Group announced a universal serial bus (USB) device controller (UDC) macrocell for system-ASIC applications. Lucent also offers the UDC macrocell in an ORCA FPGA version. The new UDC cell has been silicon-proven and can be integrated into an existing or new ASIC to provide USB capability. The USB core is compatible with Sand Microelectronics' SANDesigner ADVantage toolkit, which provides complete design and test support. Lucent Technologies, Allentown, PA. Contact (800) 372-2442 dept. 98 or www.lucent.com .

PCI compliant FPGA QuickLogic announced a new version of its 4-kgate pASIC1 device, the QL16X24BH. The new device is a special high-output drive version of the QL16X24B that features output drive of up to 24 mA. The device is supported by a PCI design kit. The QL16X24BH is available in four speed-grades and either 84 PLCC or 144 TQFP packages. Pricing is $25.15 for the 84 PLCC in quantities of 1,000. QuickLogic Corp., Santa Clara, CA. Contact (800) 842-FPGA, (408) 987-2000, info@qlogic.com, or www.quicklogic.com .

Analog system design Meta-Software introduced HspiceHDLA, a Verilog-A-based simulator for device and analog system behavioral models. The simulator uses a compiled-code approach for faster execution. HspiceHDLA provides Hspice circuit-level simulations for mixed-signal designs, while the Verilog-A mode enables the move into high-level analog design and the prototyping of complex device models. Pricing for the simulator on Unix workstations begins at $35,000. Meta-Software Inc., Campbell, CA. Contact (408)369-5400, info@metasw.com, or www.metasw.com .

Cell migration tool Cascade Design Automation released MasterPort 1.1, which supports the Solaris operating system. The tool allows designers to migrate existing cell libraries from one process technology to another. In addition to support for Solaris, the new release added other productivity enhancements, such as menu-driven setup for graf_layer .map and graf_rules files as well as independent X and Y grid sizing. MasterPort runs on Unix workstations. Pricing starts at $180,000. Cascade Design Automation Inc. , Bellevue, WA. Contact (206) 643-0200, info@cdac.com, or www.cdac.com .
