Xilinx has developed an innovative approach for designing and manufacturing FPGAs that address two key requirements of the programmable imperative. Stacked silicon interconnect (SSI) technology is the foundation of a new generation of FPGAs that break through the limitations of Moore's law and deliver the capabilities to satisfy the most demanding design requirements. It also enables Xilinx to reduce the time required to deliver the largest FPGAs in the quantities needed to satisfy end-customer volume production requirements. This white paper explores the technical and economic challenges that led Xilinx to develop SSI technology and innovations that make it possible.
