Audio design competition for students

If you know - or are - a student interested in audio hardware or software design, be sure to check out the Audio Engineering Society's just-announced Student Design Competition. Here, students will have the opportunity to have their innovative audio hardware and software designs reviewed by a panel of pro audio manufacturers, product designers, and end users.

Any interested student has the entire summer to devise and create their product, with a submission deadline of October 1, 2012. The competition will be judged, and prizes awarded, at this year's 133rd AES Convention in San Francisco.

The only requirements for design submissions are that they must be for use with audio (and be useful), and should represent original ideas implemented in working-model prototypes. Applications examples include loudspeaker design, DSP plug-ins, analog hardware, signal analysis tools, mobile applications, and sound synthesis devices.

All students will have the opportunity to display their projects at the Convention's tabletop exhibition. For more, see a complete list of AES Student Design Competition rules.
