Recently I had the pleasure of talking with auto racing legend Mario Andretti. He gave me his views on the state of the sport in the U.S., Formula One racing (and the prospects for an American driver in that series), along with how to become a race car driver! In addition, he discussed technology in both race and consumer road cars, and the challenges faced by automotive engineers.
But as I was writing up our conversation for posting to Automotive DesignLine, I realized it would provide a better, more personal picture of the man to let you listen in on our unedited talk. So get set to spend a fascinating half hour (at lunch time, of course), and you’ll also find out what was his most satisfying race victory (not the Indy 500) and what kind of car he drives on the street.
And if you’d like to see what it is like to ride with Mario in a racing Porsche around Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, CA, click here.
