On the brink, GM responds with electric rickshaw

General Motors and Segway claimed to have reinvented urban transportation with their two-seat prototype electric vehicle, dubbed PUMA.

PUMA stands for Personal Urban Mobility and Accessibility.

"Project PUMA represents a unique solution to moving about and interacting in cities, where more than half of the world's people live," Larry Burns, GM's vice president of research, development and strategic planning, said in a statement.

GM is heading for bankruptcy, and the former world's largest auto maker is responding with an electric rickshaw along with non-stop truck commercials featuring overrated NFL Hall-of-Famer Howie Long.

There is another, proven technology for getting around cities: the bicycle.

I think this Italian has outdone segway with an auto-stabilised, one-wheel vehicle: http://fwd.five.tv/videos/easy-glider

One-person, one-wheel! Thats my motto :-)
