DSP for beginners

A reader asks:

I am an old hand at analog/digital design, but have never done any DSP. Is there a particular resource that is good for the beginner?

Good question! I just put together a book for beginners called Digital Signal Processing: World Class Designs. This is a great place to start. (If you get the book, I'd love to hear what you think! Did I cover the right topics? Is the material easy to read?)

I also recommend looking at the "best of the year" articles I did on the DSP DesignLine. Most of these articles cover basic topics that are perfect for beginners. Here's the list:

If you can make it to ESC, there is a great day-long intro to DSP on the 30th: There is also a lineup of shorter classes that you may find helpful. (You can get a 25% discount on ESC by using code CTMSP15 when you register online.)

Finally, TechOnline is working on a Fundamentals of DSPs online course. When this goes up, it will be a great way to learn the basics.
