This is a roundup of news or activities in the past few days that may be of interest to people.
Xilinx has made available its first public release of its Vivado Design Suite 2012.2 at no additional cost to all ISE Design Suite customers who are currently in warranty. This release is the first in a two-phase rollout, with the first phase focused on accelerating time to implementation from C and RTL, and the second focused on accelerating time to integration of system-level functions. Vivado Design Suite 2012.2 delivers an Integrated Design Environment (IDE) with a new generation of system-to-IC tools that include High-Level Synthesis, RTL Synthesis with SystemVerilog support, analytical place and route, and an SDC-based timing engine.
Oski Technology was jointly presented with the 2012 Design Automation Conference (DAC) User Track Best Presentation Award for the paper, “Deploying Model Checking for Bypass Verification.” The paper was selected from close to 150 submissions, of which 37 were selected for presentations and six nominated as Best Presentation finalists. It describes how a formal verification approach called model checking was used to establish correctness of bypass logic in networking and processors designs. They detailed how adding bypass logic increased system performance, but significantly increased verification complexity.
Synopsys has completed the acquisition of Ciranova, a privately held electronic design automation (EDA) company focused on delivering productivity improvements in custom IC design by reducing the time and effort needed to develop transistor-level layout on advanced nodes. Synopsys intends to utilize Ciranova's technology to accelerate advancements in its custom integrated circuit (IC) design solutions and enable design teams to better meet the productivity challenges created by the complexity of nanometer designs.
Newark element14, has developed a digital catalog for analog and embedded design. This new digital catalog offers a selection of new and best-in-class technology products from manufacturers such as Altera, Analog Devices, ARM, Atmel, Freescale, Linear Technology, Microchip and TI National. The product offering includes MCUs, MPUs, DSPs, development kits, debuggers, programmers, emulators and software.
Calypto Design Systems says the recent launch of Catapult Low-Power High-Level Synthesis helped propel it to its best DAC ever with a 2x increase in unique visitors and a 46% increase in suite attendees.
