iPad stuffer - this is not an app - app

As an editor, my inbox receives many junk emails every day about things way outside my area of interest (and yours) and they get deleted just as quickly as they come in. But the other day I got one that caught my eye. It was an app titled “This is not an app” that follows from Keri Smith’s book titled “This is not a book”. In the description it says:
…users will actually determine the final product and content of the app. This app transforms a phone or tablet into a digital time travel device, an electronic mess-maker, a choose-your-own adventure, a handheld nature emulator, an ethnographic study of the room you are sitting in, or a virtual collection of objects from the world around us.
Well, I had to have a look and so I downloaded it. First of all, don’t open this app until you have some free time and you are in the right state of mind for some silliness and a desire to let your mind go to places it may not have gone since you were a child.
The not an app is a collection of pages where each page asks you to perform a task or do something silly, creative, imaginative or just plain bizarre. For example, one page starts off – This is a blank space. Think of nothing. How many examples of nothing can you think of? Draw nothing here… Another page starts – This is an excuse to avoid other things. Write a list of things you would like to avoid here…
So, “This is not an app” - app contains 50 pages of silliness that just may be the right iPad/iPhone stuffer for someone you know. It is also available for the Nook and Android devices, but since I don’t have them I don’t know how the app looks there.
Have fun with it and be creative!
