Infineon recently launched the XMC4000 32-bit microcontroller family, which uses the Cortex-M4 processor from ARM. Alongside the devices comes a development kit that has a novel design which I think could have been inspired by the NASA International Space Station.

I caught up with Dr. Stephan Zizala, Senior Director, Industrial and Multimarket Microcontrollers at Infineon Technologies who showed me the basic board and a number of add-on cards that provide enhanced development opportunities.

This is very nice. They need to send many of these units to top engineering schools and many cool and fun things will come out of them.

I'd love an electronics kit like this - keypads, LCD display, CCD display, easy enought to connect together like
the Bloc-Tronic 180 or Lectron boards.
