. Solar-powered plane, Solar Impulse, landed on June 5, 2012 at Rabat Sale airport in Rabat, Morocco after 19 hours of flying from Madrid, Spain. “Aside from technical and political reasons behind the decision to fly to Morocco, simply the flight over the Gibraltar straight was a magical moment and represents one of the highlights of my carrier as an aeronaut,” declared Bertrand Piccard as the ground crew opened the cockpit.


Solar Impulse

. Boeing's massive hydrogen-powered Phantom Eye UAV performed its first test flight at NASA's Dryden Flight Research Center June 1 reaching an altitude of 4,080 feet and a cruising speed of 62 knots. To view videos, click here and photos here.

. Long-range electric aerospace company Flight of the Century, Inc. said it expects to design, build, and fly an all-electric aircraft from New York to Paris along the same 3,600 mile historic route pioneered by Charles Lindbergh in 1927. The trip is currently planned for 2014.
