A different perspective on life

On Friday I got to see and experience an amazing event. It was the creation and destruction of a sand mandala by monks from the Drepung Loseling Phukhang Monastery. It took six monks three days to create this work of art that existed for about 30 minutes before they proceeded to destroy it and return the sand from where it had come so as to spread universal compassion. A full write up of this can be found in my personal blog.
It made me think how different the life is that they have created compared to ours. Both work in silicon, both create highly sophisticated patterns in silicon, but they do it from a sense of thanks to their world and to spread joy. I will let your mind add why we do it.
For those of you on the west coast of the US, they will be touring over the next few months and if you get a chance, I suggest that you witness this.

Beautiful.
I think I understand the monks perspective. We all see beauty everyday that occurs in a short period of time.
We need to stop and take in those moments because by tomorrow, they could be gone forever.
Take the time to enjoy life as it occurs. Time waits for no one.
Just a thought.

I agree - live for today, dream for tomorrow and remember yesterday. If you keep worrying about the past or having unrealistic expectations of tomorrow you never get to enjoy today.

This reminds me of Vinayagar Chathurthi once in a year in India on a massive scale. We make millions of Ganapathi's in clay decorate with colors and flowers pray him performing poojas then on third day sink them in ocean ,rivers and ponds.
